H2H Foundation / Projects / SuS AGRI – SuStainable AGRIculture and climate change: impacts, strategies, and mitigation actions

Location: Roskovec, Albania

Status: Ongoing

Description: SuS_AGRI aims to capitalise the methodology developed by the REBOUND project “Fostering Resilience in Rural Communities”, funded by the ERASMUS+ Priority Theme program transferring it in the territories of South Adriatic.

The South Adriatic area is characterized by favorable natural conditions for the development of agriculture productions. However, in the last years this area has also been exposed to drought, floods, frost, strong winds and a rising salinity level of agricultural lands. Due to climate change effects, water scarcity, change in precipitation regime, bacteria and rising temperature have been identified as major climate risk factors across the agriculture sector of the South Adriatic area.

Objective:

SuS_AGRI aims to strengthen the base knowledge of farm producers in the South Adriatic area on agricultural practices to mitigate the effects of climate change. The specific objective of the project is to promote adaptation to climate change and preventing risk from behaviors, resilience considering their positions in the ecosystem.

Expected results:

  • To collaborate among South Adriatic farmers to compare the effects of climate change.
  • To find a basis on new methods and best practices in this sector
