On Friday, December 15, 2023, a meeting was held with representatives of civil society organizations for the presentation of the Albanian Municipality Dam Removal – DARE project.
In this meeting, discussions were held on:
• Dams and their classification
• Reasons why non-functional dams should be removed
• Environmental benefits from removing non-functional dams
• Records for removing dams in Europe
• The situation of the existing state of irrigation dams in Albania
• Key findings up to this stage of the DARE project
This activity is organized within the project “Albanian Municipality DARE (Dam Removal)”, supported by the Open Rivers Program.
