From 27 December 2024 to 20 February 2025 the H2H Foundation has been supporting the project with marketing, platform maintenance and logistics.
Project Description
Kukël is a space of memory, tradition, culture, agriculture, literature with an unimaginable and unlocked prospect, for it to be developed as a unit for growth, making place for new practices and shelter tradition within a dignifying building. In Kukël, resides Ndre Mjeda’s legacy, one of the key figures of Albanian literature and history who set the tone while drawing from the same space we are trying to preserve. While the museal residency remains intact, we draw everyone’s attention to a request, from the priest who manages the site, and is asking all of us to aid in revitalising the roof of the nearby magazine, from where steams the inspiration of one of Mjeda’s greatest works the poem collection titled “Andrra e Jetës” (Dream of life).
So join us in sharing, donating and supporting this project and give back to a space that has shaped the minds and hearts of generations of poets and cultural enthusiasts.
Below you will find a detailed route of how we propose the vision for the future of this magazine into a site for art, culture and stability:
What the future can hold: A Space for Culture and Empowerment
We seek to breathe new life into this historical site, ensuring that Mjeda’s legacy is preserved and that the local community benefits from a sustainable cultural and economic model. With your help, we aim to rehabilitate the buildings of Mjeda’s complex, turning these spaces into vibrant centers for culture, local craftsmanship, and social enterprise.
Short-Term Goals:
Our immediate focus is on rehabilitating the roof of the building located in the territory of the Mjeda Complex. The roof is in urgent need of restoration to prevent further damage and to preserve the other part. The restoration will adhere to the traditional architectural elements and ensure the longevity of the building.
Once restored, the space will be transformed into a local handicraft space where the area’s rich tradition of craftsmanship will be showcased and sold. This will provide local artisans, particularly women, with a valuable platform to showcase their work and generate income, while also creating a new attraction for visitors.
Any contribution through the platform below is welcome.
