The monitoring was conducted in April 2026 and covered 13 strategic water bodies across the municipalities of <a href=\"https:\/\/bashkiashkoder.gov.al\/\">Shkoder<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/vaudejes.gov.al\/\">Vau i Dejes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bashkiabelsh.al\/\">Belsh<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/elbasani.gov.al\/\">Elbasan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/tirana.al\/\">Tirane<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/durres.gov.al\/\">Durres<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shijak.gov.al\/\">Shijak<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/bashkiafier.gov.al\/\">Fier<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bashkiapustec.gov.al\/home\/\">Pustec<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key findings highlight:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>pressures from urban wastewater, agriculture and recreational activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>bacteriological\/faecal pollution in several water bodies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>risks related to eutrophication, sedimentation and elevated mineralisation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the need for more frequent monitoring and coordinated interventions in critical areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report presents practical recommendations to improve wastewater infrastructure, reduce agricultural pollution, establish vegetative buffer zones, strengthen institutional cooperation and increase transparency through the regular publication of monitoring data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This report was produced within the framework of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/greenal.al\/sq\/\">#GreenAL<\/a>&nbsp;project \u201cSupport to Civil Society Organizations 2024 -2027\u201d, financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sida.se\/en\">(Sida)<\/a>&nbsp;with funds from the Swedish Government and implemented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.co-plan.org\/\">Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development<\/a> in collaboration with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.volint.it\/vis\/albania\">VIS Albania<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosv.org\/?lang=en\">COSV \u2013 Cooperazione per lo Sviluppo.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udcc4 <strong>Read the full report and explore the findings and recommendations for the protection and sustainable management of Albania\u2019s water resources:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"_df_book df-lite\" id=\"df_1533\"  _slug=\"\" data-title=\"\" wpoptions=\"true\" thumb=\"https:\/\/h2h-foundation.al\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Cover-2-scaled.jpg\" thumbtype=\"\" ><\/div><script class=\"df-shortcode-script\" nowprocket type=\"application\/javascript\">window.option_df_1533 = {\"outline\":[],\"viewerType\":\"reader\",\"autoEnableOutline\":\"false\",\"autoEnableThumbnail\":\"false\",\"overwritePDFOutline\":\"false\",\"enableDownload\":\"false\",\"backgroundImage\":\"https:\\\/\\\/h2h-foundation.al\\\/wp-content\\\/uploads\\\/2026\\\/09\\\/Cover-2-1-scaled.jpg\",\"direction\":\"1\",\"pageSize\":\"0\",\"source\":\"https:\\\/\\\/h2h-foundation.al\\\/wp-content\\\/uploads\\\/2026\\\/09\\\/Raport_ActiveWaterII_Faza-e-III_Online.pdf\",\"wpOptions\":\"true\"};
