76.055 kg of waste collected through the RIVERCLEAN project, promoting environmental awareness and community engagement.
On 12 September 2026, H2H Foundation organized its fourth beach cleanup activity at Lalëz Public Beach, near Melia, as part of the RIVERCLEAN project.
The activity began with an environmental awareness session addressed to participants and beach visitors, focusing on the environmental impacts of plastic pollution and the importance of reducing single-use plastics. Particular attention was given to the connection between land-based waste, rivers and marine ecosystems, highlighting how improperly managed waste can travel through waterways and eventually reach the sea. Participants were encouraged to adopt responsible waste-management practices and contribute actively to protecting the environment.
Following the awareness session, H2H Foundation, together with environmental activists and members of Rotary District 2485 clubs from Albania and Kosovo, joined forces to clean the public beach at Lalzi Bay. The participating organizations included Rotary Club Tirana International & Interact, Rotary Club Tirana West, Interact Durrës and Rotary Club Tirana Bllok.
As a result of the collective effort, a total of 76.055 kg of waste was collected, consisting of:
- 29.595 kg of plastic waste
- 46.460 kg of other waste
This initiative once again demonstrated that protecting the environment requires more than cleanup activities alone. Raising public awareness, encouraging sustainable everyday habits and strengthening community participation are essential to addressing pollution at its source and preventing waste from reaching rivers and seas.
Through the RIVERCLEAN project, H2H Foundation continues to promote environmental responsibility and collective action, encouraging communities to take an active role in protecting Albania’s rivers, coastlines and marine ecosystems.
Together, we can make a difference — cleaner rivers, cleaner seas, a healthier environment!
This activity is implemented within the framework of the RIVERCLEAN initiative, carried out by ETMI and Milieukontakt Albania, with the support of the European Union.
