On 21 July 2026, a coastal cleanup activity was organised at Lalëz Public Beach near Tarin stream as part of the RIVERCLEAN Project, with the participation and support of volunteers from Rotary Club Tirana International and Horizons to Sustainability.
The activity aimed not only to remove litter from the coastal area but also to raise awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems and reducing pollution from waste, particularly plastic litter.
Thanks to the commitment of volunteers and partner organisations, a total of 58.05 kg of waste was collected during the cleanup, including:
- 33.96 kg of plastic waste
- 24.09 kg of other waste
The initiative contributed to improving the environmental condition of the beach while promoting community responsibility for protecting nature. It also demonstrated how collective action can generate tangible environmental benefits and inspire greater public engagement in conservation efforts.
This activity is implemented within the framework of the RIVERCLEAN initiative, carried out by ETMI and Milieukontakt Albania, with the support of the European Union.
