As part of the “Active Water II” project, H2H Foundation in collaboration with Art Kontakt and North Green Association, has completed the third phase of monitoring activities for the assessment of water quality in selected water bodies.
The monitoring activities were carried out with the aim of collecting data on the ecological status and quality of water resources, as well as identifying environmental issues affecting aquatic ecosystems and local communities.
During the monitoring process, in-situ physico-chemical measurements were conducted and water samples were collected for bacteriological parameter analysis, including the key indicators of water quality, with a focus on identifying pollution sources, anthropogenic impacts, and the need for rehabilitation measures and sustainable water resource management.
Monitoring activities were conducted in the following water bodies:
- Lake Skadar
- Vau i Dejës Reservoir
- Bovilla Lake
- Macro Prespa Lake
- Artificial Lake of Tirana
- Farka Lake
- Vija e Ngjalës
- Funar Lake
- Tregan Lake
- Belsh Lake
- Tafanaj Lake
- Rubjeka Reservoir
- Hamallaj Pumping Station
- Adriatic Sea discharge area

These activities represent an important step toward strengthening cooperation among civil society organizations, research institutions, and local communities for the protection of water resources and the promotion of sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.
Through the “Active Water II” project, the aim is to increase public awareness, improve environmental monitoring, and support concrete actions for pollution reduction and biodiversity conservation in the country’s aquatic areas.
The activities were carried out within the framework of the #GreenAL project “Support to Civil Society Organizations 2024 -2027”, financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) with funds from the Swedish Government and implemented by Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development in collaboration with VIS Albania and COSV – Cooperazione per lo Sviluppo.
