📅 On May 22, 2026 a monitoring activity was carried out at Lalëz Beach within the framework of the #RIVERCLEAN project.
📍 The selected monitoring site was located along the Lalëz coastline – an area of significant natural and recreational value, increasingly exposed to pressures from human activities and plastic pollution.
🌊 During the activity, the presence, types, and quantities of litter were observed and monitored in accordance with the standardised beach litter monitoring protocol.
👉 The activity aimed to provide a clearer overview of the pollution situation in the area by identifying the main types of litter, understanding their possible sources, and assessing their impact on the coastal and marine environment. It also contributed to raising awareness about reducing plastic waste and protecting natural ecosystems.
🔎 Key findings:
🧾 377 litter items recorded in 100 metres distance
⚖️ 18.7 kg of waste collected in total
♻️ 10.4 kg of plastic waste
🗑️ 8.3 kg of other waste
This activity is implemented within the framework of the RIVERCLEAN initiative, carried out by ETMI and Milieukontakt Albania, with the support of the European Union.
